Your account
Delete your account.
You can close your Dicopay account whenever you want. This page tells you how, what goes, what stays, and why some of it has to stay.
This page is placeholder text written for a design mockup. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must be replaced by counsel before publication.
Before you start.
Deletion is final. Once it has run, you lose access to your invoice history, your contracts, your time reports, and your exports, and we cannot bring the account back. If you want any of it, download it first.
You do not have to delete an account to stop using Dicopay. Invoicing is free and there is no monthly fee, so an account you never open costs you nothing.
How to delete it.
Download what you want to keep
Export your invoices and your accounting data while you still have access. In Sweden, exports go to Visma, Bokio, Hogia, and SpeedLedger. Save any contract or e-signature record you might need later.
Deal with anything still open
Deletion does not cancel an unpaid invoice, and it does not end a financing agreement. If an invoice is outstanding or an advance is running, sort that out first. The two sections below explain what happens to each.
Ask us to delete the account
Open account settings in the app and choose the delete option, or write to [to confirm] from the email address the account is registered to. Tell us the business name and say that you want the account deleted.
Confirm that it is you
We verify who you are before we delete anything, because the request cannot be undone and because someone else asking is exactly the risk we are guarding against. In Sweden that check uses BankID. We also check that you are authorized to close the business's account.
Get the confirmation
When the deletion has run, we send you a written confirmation. It lists what was deleted, what we had to keep, and the reason each record was kept.
What happens to invoices you already sent.
An invoice does not disappear because your account does. Anything already delivered to a customer stays valid and stays payable, your customer keeps the copy they were sent, and the payment terms on it do not change.
Automatic payment reminders stop when the account closes. From that point, chasing an unpaid invoice is back to being your job. If you would rather we kept chasing a specific invoice until it is paid, tell us before you ask for deletion and we will explain what that involves.
What happens to financing you already took.
Dicopay is not a lender. If you took an advance against an invoice, that agreement is between you and the independent regulated lending partner that funded it, not between you and us. Deleting your Dicopay account does not cancel that agreement, does not change what you owe, and does not change what happens if your customer fails to pay.
Settle anything open with the partner, or agree on a plan with them, before you ask us to delete. Keep your copy of their agreement. The partner keeps its own records under its own privacy notice and its own retention rules, and deleting your Dicopay account has no effect on those. If you are not sure who the partner was, ask us before you delete and we will tell you.
What we have to keep, and for how long.
We cannot delete everything, and no company in this business can. Swedish accounting law makes us keep records of the transactions we have been part of. Anti-money-laundering law makes us keep the identity checks we ran on you and on the owners of the business.
- We keep accounting records, including invoices, fees, and payment records, for the period Swedish accounting law requires, which is [to confirm].
- We keep identity verification and anti-money-laundering records, including the result of the BankID check, for the period anti-money-laundering law requires, which is [to confirm].
- We keep records we need in order to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim until the claim ends or the limitation period runs out, which is [to confirm].
- We keep a record of the deletion request itself for [to confirm], so we can show that we handled it.
What stays is locked down and used only for the reason it was kept. It is not used for marketing, it is not used to build a profile of you, and it is not shared with funding partners. When the period runs out, it is deleted or made anonymous.
Everything else goes: your profile, your login, your saved preferences, your device and analytics data, your marketing consents, and your support history, subject to the records listed above. The privacy policy sets out the full picture.
How long it takes.
Once we have confirmed who you are, deletion of the live data starts within [to confirm]. Backups run on their own cycle and are overwritten in turn, so a copy can remain in an encrypted backup for up to [to confirm] after the live data has gone. Nobody works from those backups. They exist to restore the service after a failure, and the deleted data is removed from them when the cycle completes.
If you change your mind before the deletion runs, tell us and we will stop it. After it has run, there is nothing to restore, and a new account starts from nothing.
